The Columbus Foundation and Affiliates—2008
- The assets of the Foundation totaled $817.1 million as of December 31, 2008. These assets are held in 1,716 funds, 29 supporting foundations, and one affiliated organization.
- Gifts to The Columbus Foundation totaled $94.4 million in 2008.
- Donors created 95 new funds.
- Distributed $98.7 million in grants to 2,037 nonprofit organizations.
- Grants paid since 1947, the Foundation's first grantmaking year, totaled $992 million, providing support for programs in the arts and humanities, conservation, education, health, community development, and social services.
- Donors continue to include the Foundation in their future charitable giving plans. Planned gifts to the Foundation now total $748.3 million; 47 new planned gifts were created in 2008.

As a public charity, The Columbus Foundation takes its obligation to operate in the public view and the public interest very seriously. Accordingly, we make available our federal tax return (IRS Form 990) and our audited financial statements.
