Emergency Response: Earthquake in Haiti


Port-au-Prince HAITIOne of the greatest humanitarian disasters in recent memory is unfolding in Haiti. The country was devastated by a 7.0 earthquake and much of its basic infrastructure that provides basic human needs, including food and water, is unable to function. Early estimates indicate up to one-third of Haiti’s 9 million residents have been impacted in some way. As many as 100,000 people have died. Thousands have been injured and many are living on the streets because there is no safe shelter. 

To help the residents of Haiti you can:


Make a gift to the Haiti Disaster Relief Fund of The Columbus Foundation. You can designate which of the following organization(s) you would like to support with your gift: the American Red Cross of Greater Columbus, CARE, Oxfam, and/or the Salvation Army. These organizations were researched by the Foundation are and among the best positioned to provide immediate assistance. Grants will be distributed to the organizations on a weekly basis.
