The Beat Goes On
CityMusic offers international flair
CityMusic celebrated its 25th anniversary with a special chamber music concert, “From Russia with Love” in the historic Southern Theater in November. The event, featured in our summer 2008 A Call to Action publication, was partly funded thanks to a grant by the Foundation. Donors responded as well, contributing more than $1,350 to help support the cause and elevate the Chamber Music Series.
CityMusic continues to provide the community with outstanding national and international talent in the world of chamber music. The 2008-2009 concert series, recently moved to the Grand Ballroom of the Athletic Club of Columbus, featured acts including Quarter Amici, Les Yeux Noirs, The Tannahill, and Buckwheat Zedeco.
Since 1991, CityMusic has been providing young people with the opportunity to experience music through their Musical Opportunities Reward Everyone (M.O.R.E.) program. M.O.R.E. programs include afterschool music workshops, a music program at the Godman Guild's summer camp, and the CityMusic Youth Jazz Ensemble. All M.O.R.E. programs and workshops are offered at no cost to participants.
