Background
Over the past 20 years, the Raymond E. Mason Foundation has awarded grants totaling more than $21 million for charitable, international, educational, public, and cultural purposes.
The Foundation was created by, Major General Raymond E. Mason, Jr. AUS (ret.), a native of Columbus who graduated from The Ohio State University in 1941. He served in the European Theater of Operations during World War II, in the Fourth Armored Division of General George S. Patton’s Third Army. Gen. Mason continued his military career as a member of the active reserves for 35 years. He is a graduate of the USA Command and General Staff College, and attended the U.S. Army War College. Prior to retiring from the military in 1976, Gen. Mason held several high-ranking Pentagon positions, including Assistant Deputy Chief for Operations and Special Assistant to Deputy Chief of Logistics. He was promoted to Major General in 1969, and was the keynote speaker to the first Worldwide Logistics Conference of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
