THE COLUMBUS FOUNDATION OFFERS $175,000 IN MATCHING DOLLARS ON POWERPHILANTHROPY MATCH DAY MARCH 6
Columbus, OH (February 29, 2008)—The Columbus Foundation announces PowerPhilanthropy Match Day, an opportunity for central Ohio donors to double their impact on the community through nonprofit organizations. The Columbus Foundation is offering $175,000 in matching grant dollars to anyone who donates to any nonprofit with a portrait in PowerPhilanthropy, beginning at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2008, until the match is exhausted. Donations can be made through PowerPhilanthropy at The Columbus Foundation’s website, www.columbusfoundation.org.
How the match works:
- The Foundation will match credit card gifts (minimum gift is $20) to PowerPhilanthropy organizations at 50 cents to the dollar, up to $75,000.
- The Foundation will match online grants suggestions from Columbus Foundation donor advised funds and supporting foundations to PowerPhilanthropy organizations dollar for dollar, up to $100,000.
- The maximum donation permitted per individual or per fund is $1,000 for the purposes of the match.
PowerPhilanthropy allows registered users to search an online database of more than 340 central Ohio nonprofit organizations. Each nonprofit has created a custom portrait detailing their mission, programs offered, finances, as well as the results of their efforts.
