UNRESTRICTED GIFT GIVES BOOST TO THE
COLUMBUS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
COLUMBUS, Ohio (April 4, 2008)—The Columbus Foundation announced today that one of its donors has made a special, unrestricted $75,000 gift to the Columbus Symphony Orchestra (CSO). The donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, is hoping that this gift will encourage other donors to work together to maintain the CSO while its musicians, Board, and management strive to reach a new labor agreement.
“While we are not at liberty to disclose the name of this Columbus Foundation donor, we certainly can speak to their intention--to help the CSO now and to inspire other contributions to the CSO, now,” said Columbus Foundation President and CEO Douglas F. Kridler. “Many are those in our community who are willing to help preserve this cornerstone of the culture of our community; it is this donor’s hope that this gift will catalyze others to act now to stabilize the CSO. Clearly, there is a sense of urgency about the Orchestra’s future, and this donor didn't want to wait until it was too late to extend a helping hand.”
