The Columbus Foundation Celebrates Its 75th Anniversary with "The Big Explore"

Free public transit and free admission to cultural institutions usher in milestone anniversary

COLUMBUS, OH (December 12, 2018) — On December 29, residents of central Ohio will receive a big “thank you” from The Columbus Foundation for  helping to build a strong and connected community over the past 75 years.

As a way to celebrate the generosity of the community that has made the Foundation the eighth largest community foundation in the country, bus rides on COTA and admission to six of Columbus’ most renowned cultural institutions will be free. Participating locations include:

Columbus Museum of Art, COSI, Franklin Park Conservatory, National Veterans Memorial and Museum, Ohio History Center, and Wexner Center for the Arts

Additionally, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is helping to celebrate by offering $.75 scoops of ice cream at all of their Columbus shops that day.

“We were born at a time of great challenge in the world and in our community. It is the people of this community who, despite the odds, willed this to become one of the leading community philanthropies in the world. What better way to celebrate our anniversary than to give everyone a chance to explore our community together?”

DOUGLAS F. KRIDLER, PRESIDENT AND CEO OF THE COLUMBUS FOUNDATION

Free admission is available at all participating locations during their regular business hours. Free COTA rides will be available from 5 a.m. on December 29 until 1 a.m. on December 30.

Additional event information can be found here.
