More Than Just a Ride: Helping Cancer Patients Get to Treatment
Pink Ribbon Girls
Pink Ribbon Girls knows firsthand the heavy burden of fighting cancer has on clients and families. Lack of transportation or a healthy meal are barriers between a struggling patient and successful treatment. Help expand PRG's team to serve their growing client base!
Pink Ribbon Girls provide so much more than a ride for those battling cancer. The organization’s free, direct services, including meal delivery, rides to treatment, and housecleaning are available to any family in central Ohio facing treatment for breast or gynecological cancer.
“We can’t fight this fight alone. Getting a ride to treatment from Pink Ribbon Girls means that our family can use time off work to spend quality time together—not to drive back and forth from the hospital. Your support will make this possible for more families.”
—Cindy & Jeff Koehler, Client Family
Many weeks PRG transportation specialists are already performing at capacity, without any back-up for vacations or sick time. The team has reached a breaking point, and without an additional transportation specialist they will not be able to meet the needs of their growing client base. In 2018, PRG provided 1,051 rides to treatment in central Ohio and added 207 clients to its program. In just the first quarter of 2019, 68 new clients have joined PRG! If this growth continues, their caseload will increase by 30 percent over last year.
PRG’s local automotive partner, Performance Columbus, has generously provided PRG with a third vehicle. With your support, they will hire and train a third transportation specialist to support local cancer patients as growth continues. This will ensure that clients who need transportation do not miss vital appointments, and will support the overall success of their treatment protocol.
“Right now, we are doing our best to help has many clients as possible get to their treatments, but there are times when we just don't have the capacity. An additional transportation specialist will be able to provide up to 20 additional rides per week - a necessary expansion for our program. Your donation will be used solely to provide rides to cancer treatment in central Ohio.”
