The Columbus Foundation awarded the $25,000 Columbus Performing Arts Prize to the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra to support the world premiere of an original work by five-time GRAMMY and Academy Award-winning artist Jon Batiste, which will be performed before a sold-out audience at the Southern Theatre the weekend of May 3.

The Isabelle Ridgway Foundation, a Supporting Foundation of The Columbus Foundation, has announced two grants supporting organizations that serve aging African Americans in the central Ohio community.

The John W. and Edna McManus Shepard Fund and Guernsey County Foundation recently awarded eight grants totaling $19,628 to organizations serving Cambridge and Guernsey counties.

Elderly African American residents of Columbus’ Near East Side will soon benefit from additional support and resources dedicated to keeping them healthy and independent, thanks to an innovative grant made by the Isabelle Ridgway Foundation, an organization focused on promoting the health, well-being, independence, and dignity of aging and elderly African Americans.

Columbus, OH (March 19, 2019)—The Columbus Foundation today recognized five innovative central Ohio organizations poised for an exceptional year of growth and progress during its “5 Nonprofits to Watch” event. The organizations selected for 2019 are: A Kid Again, Columbus Early Learning Centers, Human Service Chamber, ProMusica, and TECH CORPS.

Columbus Foundation officials have announced a total of $2.1 million in awards to 60 central Ohio arts organizations — the largest such investment in the foundation’s 75-year history.

The annual Celebration of Philanthropy highlighted the Foundation’s 75-year commitment to strengthening and improving the community and recognized outstanding examples of philanthropy through its 2019 awards. For the third straight year, the Foundation and its donors set a record for investments made into communities, granting more than $224 million to 4,018 nonprofits in 2018. More than $2.7 million was awarded through scholarship grants, a record high for the Foundation. Since 1944, $2.5 billion has been awarded to support thousands of nonprofit organizations in areas from education and the arts to social services and healthcare.
