The Harold C. Schott Foundation, Huntington, and Grange Insurance Gifts Lift Big Give Bonus Pool to Largest Ever

$1.5 million will amplify every gift made during the event

COLUMBUS, OH (June 8, 2020) — Nonprofits tackling our community’s toughest issues will get a record-setting boost during this year’s Big Give. Despite challenging economic circumstances, Columbus Foundation donors and corporate partners rallied together to create the biggest Bonus Pool in Big Give history for 2020.

The Foundation announced today that more than $1.5 million has been raised for The Big Give Bonus Pool, besting the previous high of $1.4 million for the last event in 2017.

“Our dream for this Big Give is that it will bring our community together at our greatest time of need to ensure we get critical resources to the nonprofit community,” said Michael Schott, Trustee, The Harold C. Schott Foundation.

Bonus Pool dollars amplify donations made during The Big Give and are allocated to nonprofits on a pro rata basis. In 2017, for every dollar raised by nonprofits, approximately $1.08 went to the organization.

Helping those dollars go even further is the Foundation covering all credit card fees for gifts made during the event, so 100 percent of donations go to nonprofits.

“As our communities continue to be impacted by this pandemic, our nonprofit organizations need our support now more than ever as the demand grows for critical basic services like food, shelter, and physical and mental health and safety,” said John Ammendola, Grange Insurance president and CEO.

“Now more than ever, it is the responsibility of local businesses to step up in support of our community. It’s always been part of our fabric at Grange and I am proud to stand alongside so many other outstanding companies as we gather together in support of our neighbors.”

The previous four Big Gives (2011, 2013, 2015, 2017) have generated more than $52 million for central Ohio nonprofits. Charities in ten counties (Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Hocking, Licking, Madison, Morrow, Perry, Pickaway, and Union) are eligible to participate in The Big Give.

“Once again, the Foundation’s committed partners have shown what makes our community great— its dedication to lifting up and supporting one another, even through the most difficult of times. We are humbled and grateful to work alongside these outstanding champions of our community’s well-being to strengthen and improve the region through events like The Big Give.”

DOUGLAS F. KRIDLER, PRESIDENT AND CEO, THE COLUMBUS FOUNDATION
