Blanche and Bundy were long-time residents of Chillicothe who were involved in the Community. Bundy retired as a partner in the Eastern Avenue Lumber Company. Blanche was a community volunteer with a strong passion for the Chillicothe Hospital (now known as Adena) where she devoted many hours as a volunteer as well as making crafts for their holiday bazaar fundraisers. The scholarship is being given by their nephew Everett Gallagher, a 1979 graduate and valedictorian of Chillicothe High School.

The scholarship is established in memory and honor of M.D. and Elfriede Burt by their children, Charlotte, Carmen, Susan, and Stephen Burt. M.D. and Elfriede believed in hard work, education, and the opportunities those things can offer. The scholarship is intended to honor M.D. and Elfriede, while making their vision a reality.   M.D. and Elfriede were hard workers who overcame humble beginnings to succeed by facing life together, building a family, and accomplishing many of their dreams. M.D. was born on a farm; he lost his parents during the Great Depression, and served in the U.S. Army in Europe during WW II. Elfriede grew up in Germany, and survived WW II working as a librarian. They met in Germany after the war, and moved to Ohio to start a family.   M.D. began his career at Davey climbing trees, before managing his own truck and crew, and eventually becoming senior account manager. He went on to become one of Davey’s longest-tenured employees, serving more than 47 years with the never-ending support of Elfriede.   Their life circumstances prevented them from pursuing their own college degrees, but M.D. and Elfriede believed education was key for their children to pursue their own dreams. All four of their children earned the original Davey Tree scholarship, which was critical to making that goal possible. The scholarship honors M.D. and Elfriede’s commitment to both education and The Davey Tree Company by offering a scholarship to Davey employees’ children to pursue their own educational goals at an Ohio college of their choice.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. There are more than 8,000 clubs worldwide, in 80+ countries. Columbus Club of Kiwanis  was founded in 1916, and is the fifth oldest club. We are an engaging, vibrant group of volunteers involved in hands-on projects right here in downtown Columbus. Our Kiwanis Club encourages camaraderie and fellowship through weekly luncheon meetings, featuring world-class speakers tackling timely topics. In addition, the Columbus Club of Kiwanis provides a wide range of opportunities to volunteer time and talent to make a difference in our community.

The Columbus Foundation announced its grantmaking totals for 2024 and the 2025 honorees of The Harrison M. Sayre Award and The Columbus Foundation Award during the organization’s annual Celebration of Philanthropy event.

To provide scholarship awards to deserving students who are members of the Theta Delta Chapter of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity at The Ohio State University.

The scholarship was established by Mildred Griffith in memory of her sister Genevieve Griffith, the girls' principal at Central High School in Ohio for many years. To be eligible, students must reside in the area served by Central High School when it closed in 1982, with Briggs, East, and South high schools each awarding one scholarship.

This scholarship was established to benefit graduating seniors of Upper Arlington High School who are members of the varsity or junior varsity Ice Hockey team.

The fund was established in memory of Margaret Ford and Lloyd K. Smucker by their son, John L. Smucker. Margaret and Lloyd Smucker lived most of their adult lives in Medina County, and Margaret Smucker taught in the Medina County public schools for many of those years. This fund provides scholarships annually to assist economically disadvantaged graduates of high schools in Medina County, Ohio to continue their education through college.

The James T. and Lucille C. Shidecker Fund was established in memory of Mr. Shidecker's mother, Sarah Belle Fridelle Shidecker, and Mrs. Shidecker's mother, Lewella Fletcher Church. A self-employed engineer, Mr. Shidecker was a graduate of The Ohio State University, where he received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1923. The fund equally supports scholarships for graduates of the Danville Public School System in Knox County and Big Walnut Public School System in Delaware County. Both Mr. and Mrs. Shidecker are deceased.

Dorothy Wirth Holden was a graduate of the University of Montana and member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was a social activist, strong proponent of women obtaining a college degree, and mother of seven. Examples of her many achievements include roles as the chairperson of the Social Action Committee of the National Council of Catholic Women and State Democratic Committee Representative from Franklin County. She was the first woman from Franklin County to be a member of the electoral college, worked to promote racial equality before it became the law, and with her husband John, founded the Bexley Democratic Club in 1961. In 1967, Dorothy was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and passed away.
