Move to PROSPER
Support for Move to PROSPER will help provide rent support, coaching, and programming focused on family stability.
Originally a pilot program of The Ohio State University, Move to PROSPER connects families to necessary resources, creating residential and financial stability through a holistic approach. It provides partial rent support in higher-resourced neighborhoods, coaching, and programs that empower low-income families with young children to set and achieve their goals.
Columbus is the second-most economically segregated metropolitan area in the country. The economic inequality faced by families who live in neglected neighborhoods and are disconnected from resources negatively impacts education, employment, and health. Additionally, research shows that even before kindergarten, children’s brain architecture is shaped for life by their environment, relationships, and experiences. Stressful experiences during this early stage can increase the risk of developing cognitive delays, unhealthy behaviors, and ongoing anxiety.
“My favorite thing about Move to PROSPER is that it doesn't just provide one thing families need but provides a network of resources that allow heads of households to be in charge of driving the positive and lasting changes in their lives and the lives of their children.”
