Daily Essentials for Survivors
Sanctuary Night
Support for Sanctuary Night will help provide daily living essentials for women in our community.
A 2022 Columbus Foundation 5 Nonprofit to Watch, Sanctuary Night began as an organic outreach made by survivors of and longtime advocates against human trafficking. The organization offers respite for women who need a place to rest, eat, connect, and get desired resources.
Over an eight-month period, Sanctuary Night has now served, connected with, and impacted more than 550 women through its trauma-informed and survivor-led center. Women can request case management, housing assistance, or substance abuse treatment, and many come for a shower, a meal, clothes, a hug, and kindness. The majority of the organization’s staff are survivors themselves and are provided a safe and healthy place to work, thrive, and be empowered as leaders.
"The need to support vulnerable and exploited women in Columbus is even greater than we imagined. We invite you to come alongside and help provide sanctuary and rest for those surviving on the streets on Sullivant Avenue."
—Elizabeth Ranade-Janis, Board Member
The need for these services is only growing. Support for this Better Together project will help provide daily living essentials for women visiting Sanctuary Night. This includes fresh, warm meals; underwear, socks, and bras; hygiene items; ponchos and umbrellas; tarps; bus passes; and Red-Carpet Treatment bags – all a woman needs as she enters into treatment. With your help, Sanctuary Night can continue to be a place of safety, opportunity, hope, and healing for women in our community.
We are Better Together!
“I just want you guys to know how truly grateful I am for you all. I know you are a big part of the reasons I have turned my life around for the better.”
