Make Her Future Bright
Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland
Support for Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland will help encourage girls to learn and explore with At Home Kits this summer.
Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland’s mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. Offering hands-on, girl-led, girl-centered learning in STEM, the outdoors, and entrepreneurship, Girl Scouts helps girls take the lead early and often. Its programs enable girls to experience new things, build friendships, and create memories that last a lifetime.
The pandemic has been tough on girls who now face learning loss and mental health challenges. Support for this Better Together project will supply 100 girls with Girl Scouts At Home Kits, which will provide hands-on learning opportunities in the summer months. They will also provide parents with mental health resources that can help them help their girls during these difficult times.
"More than 97 percent of educators in the United States reported seeing learning loss in students due to COVID-19 virtual learning mandates. Girl Scouts has helped bridge these gaps by offering activity kits designed to enhance the virtual learning experience with hands-on activities that encourage exploration and learning in a fun setting. These fun activities empower girls to take the lead like a Girl Scout while accomplishing amazing things."
—Tammy Wharton, President and CEO
A $40 gift will supply one kit with activities such as ice-cream chemistry, learning how to make nature-based dyes for tie-dye, travel journaling, fossil hunting, exploring art from other cultures, and more. Help encourage girls to learn and explore with At Home Kits this summer.
We are Better Together!
"This year, there were a lot of unique barriers that made it hard for girls to connect to the people and things they love. Projects like this help us help girls dive into a topic they want to explore and give them a way to be connected to the larger sisterhood of Girl Scouts from the comfort and safety of their homes.”
